Ingredients

  • 1 pack instant ramen noodles
  • 2 tsp BackYard Blendz Mild Jerk Seasoning
  • Water, according to the ramen package directions
  • A small pinch of the included ramen seasoning packet, optional
  • 1 pre-boiled egg, halved, optional
  • Freshly ground black pepper, to taste, optional

Method

  1. Cook the noodles Bring the required amount of water to a boil in a small saucepan. Add the ramen noodles and cook according to the package directions until just tender, usually about 3–5 minutes.
  2. Add the jerk flavour Reduce the heat slightly and stir in 2 teaspoons of BackYard Blendz Mild Jerk Seasoning. Mix well so the seasoning disperses throughout the broth.
  3. Adjust the broth Taste the broth before adding the ramen seasoning packet. If needed, add only a small pinch and stir well. Taste again before adding more.
  4. Finish and serve Transfer the noodles and broth to a bowl. Top with the halved pre-boiled egg and freshly ground black pepper, if using. Serve immediately.

BackYard Blendz Chef Notes

Choose your heat: Mild gives the broth gentle warmth and is the best starting point. Use BackYard Blendz Jerk Medium for a stronger kick or Jerk Hell when you want serious heat.

Start with only a pinch of the ramen seasoning packet. BackYard Blendz Jerk Seasoning already contributes herbs, spices and seasoning, so using the entire packet can overwhelm the jerk flavour and make the broth unnecessarily salty.

Add the jerk seasoning towards the end of cooking rather than boiling it aggressively from the beginning. This helps preserve more of its fresh aromatic character.

For a fuller meal, add leftover chicken, sautéed vegetables, scallions or another quick topping you already have on hand.

If using an egg while keeping this genuinely a 10-minute meal, use a pre-boiled egg or one prepared ahead.

Nutrition note: Nutritional values vary significantly by the brand of instant ramen used and the amount of the included seasoning packet added.
