Delicious Caribbean Curry Goat Recipe – Authentic & Easy to Make

Ingredients

  • 3 lbs goat meat, cut into chunks
  • 5 tbsp Backyard Blendz Fresh Green Seasoning
  • 1 tsp Backyard Blendz Jerk Seasoning (optional)
  • 3 tbsp curry powder
  • 5 Curry leaf
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 cups water
  • 2 potatoes, peeled and diced
  • 1 can (14 oz) coconut milk
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • Fresh Shadon Beni (cilantro) chopped

Directions

  1. Marinate the Goat:
    • In a large bowl, combine goat meat, 3 tbsp Backyard Blendz Fresh Green Seasoning, salt, black pepper. Mix well, ensuring the meat is evenly coated. Cover and marinate in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours, preferably overnight.
  2. Prepare the Curry Base:
    • Heat vegetable oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add chopped onions and cook until translucent, about 5 minutes.
    • Add minced garlic and sauté for an additional 2 minutes.
  3. Cook the Curry:
    • Add curry powder stirring continuously to toast the spices for about 1 minute.
    • Add the marinated goat meat to the pot and cook until browned on all sides, about 10 minutes.
    • Add curry leaf
  4. Simmer:
    • Pour in 2 cups of water and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to low, cover, and let simmer for 1 hour, stirring occasionally.
  5. Add Vegetables and Coconut Milk:
    • After about an 1 hour, add diced potatoes, and coconut milk to the pot. Stir well to combine.
    • Cover and simmer for an additional 30 minutes, or until the goat and vegetables are tender.
    • Add 2tbsp of BackYard Blendz Green Seasoning and 1tsp BackYard Blendz Jerk Seasoning (optional)

Serving Suggestion:

  • Serve hot over steamed rice or with warm roti.
